Health and Medical Expo

Healthcare Career Expo

On October 10th, DACC connected over 300 students with leaders in the healthcare field at the first Health and Medical College and Career Expo.

The expo welcomed students from a range of DACC health-related pathways, including Bioscience, Dental Assisting, Exercise Science & Sports Medicine, Clinical Medical Assisting, Health Technology & Nursing, Healthcare Technician, and Pharmacy Technician. We also had the pleasure of hosting a group of students from Hayes High School who have an interest in the healthcare field.

Students had the unique opportunity to engage with leading healthcare organizations such as OhioHealth, OSU Wexner Medical Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Columbus State Community College. The event aimed to broaden students' horizons by exposing them to the many career opportunities available in the healthcare sector.

While DACC has a history of hosting job fairs, this was the first event focused solely on a specific industry. The expo showcased a diverse range of healthcare career areas, including Respiratory Therapy, Imaging, Nursing, Laboratory Services, and Medical Assisting. Local colleges also presented various educational pathways, including new accelerated "Bootcamp" training programs offered by Columbus State Community College.

In addition to the expo, students benefited from information sessions led by employers such as OhioHealth, OSU Wexner Medical Center, Marion Tech, OSU Physicians, and North Star Family Dental. These sessions provided valuable insights into what it takes to succeed in this fast-paced, ever-evolving industry.

"As we look to the future, our goal is to make this an annual event," said Lisa-Marie Reinhart, Career Readiness Coordinator for DACC. "The healthcare industry urgently needs professionals, and DACC is committed to equipping students with the technical skills and credentials required in these high-demand areas. Collaborating with our local business and industry partners is a logical step to ensure our students are career-ready and to support workforce development needs in Central Ohio."
