Power Sports & Diesel Technology

This career pathway will teach you the math and science behind the industrial machinery used by professionals in order to repair, overhaul, and assemble gas and diesel power-driven equipment.

Program Highlights:

  • Service and perform preventive maintenance to the ensure safe

  • operation of lawn mowers, large trucks, motorcycles, tractors,

  • combines, and other heavy equipment

  • Diagnose, disassemble, test, repair, and reassemble diesel engines and

    fuel systems

  • Check, adjust, repair power trains, and identify and use fasteners

  • Service air conditioning systems, identify, troubleshoot, and service

    electrical and electronic systems, and hydraulic systems.

  • Meet professionals in the industry through field trips & guest speakers

  • To earn a fork lift certification, OSHA requires training, testing, and a

    license. You will receive your license at age 18, but may operate

    equipment under supervision while in class

  • Small engine repair and overhaul

  • Diesel engine service and repair

  • Lawn tractor service

  • Brake repair and hydraulics

  • Electrical and electronic service

  • Power trains and transmissions

  • Motorcycle and ATV service repair

  • Multi-cylinder gas engines

  • Forklift operation training

  • Air conditioning

  • Plasma cutter training

  • Alternative fuels

  • Welding

Credits Available:

  • 3 elective credits per year

  • College credits available through an articulation agreement with University of Northwestern Ohio and through Career-Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs)

CTAGs are transferrable to Ohio public colleges. Credits vary per program.

Industry Credentials Available:

  • Fork Lift License***

  • Briggs/Stratton Small Engine Certification

  • MACS Air Conditioning Certification

  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification***

  • Entry Level Medium/Heavy ASE Certification***

***Industry credential recognized by ODE for points toward graduation.
