Beginnings

The Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of students in its Aspire program, whose creative talents have been recognized in Beginnings XXVII, a statewide publication showcasing adult student writing and artwork through the Ohio Literacy Resource Center.

An impressive 21 student pieces from DACC were selected for publication, all created by students in the Advanced ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) class taught by Christine Jirathearanat.

For more than 25 years, Beginnings has provided Aspire students across Ohio with an opportunity to share their stories, poems, essays, and artwork with readers throughout the state. The publication highlights the resilience, creativity, perseverance, and diverse experiences of adult learners who continue their educational journeys while balancing responsibilities at home, work, and in their communities.

The 2026 edition is organized around themes including Where I’m From, Where I’ve Been, Where I’m At, Where I’m Going, Where I’m Inspired, and Where I’m at Peace. Among the works contributed by DACC students are pieces titled A Father’s Love for His Children, The Path to Peace, The Dream, Beauty, Hope, and My New Challenges.

We are incredibly proud of these students for sharing their voices and experiences. Their writing reflects courage, determination, hope, and the transformative power of education. We also congratulate Christine Jirathearanat for fostering an environment where students feel empowered to tell their stories and develop their talents.

The recognition of 21 published works demonstrates both the dedication of DACC Aspire students and the impact of high-quality adult education programs that help learners achieve their personal, academic, and career goals.

Congratulations to all of the published students and to Christine Jirathearanat on this outstanding achievement.
