The Delaware Area Career Center hosted its annual spring Career Fair on March 4, connecting its 1,400-plus high school students with nearly 50 local businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies.
It marked DACC’s second Career Fair of the school year, with the fall event featuring more than 30 local employers.
"Connecting students with employers is an essential part of what we do," DACC Superintendent Jay Poroda said. "This event puts our mission into action in a very tangible way. Students leave with a clearer picture of where their skills can take them."
Employers were stationed around DACC last week, allowing students the opportunity to introduce themselves and begin career-focused conversations. Several employer tables featured DACC alumni – proud to be back and eager to reach the next generation.
A wide variety of industries and career pathways were represented at the event. All employers were local to Delaware County or the surrounding area.
"We're proud to serve as a resource here in Delaware County — not only for our students, who are preparing for and seeking competitive employment opportunities in our community, but also for local businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies, which are seeking skilled employees to fill critical positions that will drive our community forward," DACC Career Readiness Coordinator Lisa-Marie Reinhart said.
"Events like our twice-yearly Career Fair offer a tremendous opportunity to connect our students with these local industry partners, showcasing what's possible for young professionals in our community and strengthening Delaware County's workforce pipeline."
