The Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) has been designated a Purple Star School by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, recognizing the district’s meaningful commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star Award is presented to schools that demonstrate a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. To earn the designation, schools must fulfill a series of requirements, including designating a military family liaison, completing professional development focused on the unique needs of military-connected students, maintaining a dedicated website resource page for military families, and completing at least one additional activity that supports military-connected students.
“As the leading voice for public education in the state of Ohio, OSBA is pleased to acknowledge this achievement and celebrate your continued dedication to serving all students.”
— Ohio School Boards Association
For DACC, this designation reflects what has always been a core value: ensuring every student — regardless of background or circumstance — feels welcomed, valued, and fully supported throughout their educational experience. Military families often face unique challenges, including frequent relocations and the stress of deployment. DACC’s Purple Star status signals to those families that they have a partner in this building.
The Purple Star designation is valid for three years. DACC joins a growing list of Ohio schools recognized for their work to ensure military-connected students and families experience a smooth, supportive transition into their school community.
