Accentuating Alumni Brionna Corder

Brionna Corder, a 2021 graduate of the Delaware Area Career Center BioScience program and Buckeye Valley High School, is building an impressive path in the world of forensic science—one that blends strong academic preparation with hands-on laboratory experience.

After graduating from DACC, Brionna continued her education at Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in December 2024. She is currently furthering her expertise as a graduate student in the University of Florida’s Online Fundamentals of Forensic Science Graduate Program, while also gaining real-world experience as a Technologist Trainee in the Infectious Disease Department at LabCorp.

Brionna credits her time at DACC with laying a critical foundation for her future career. Through the BioScience program, she developed essential laboratory skills, including proper use of laboratory equipment and aseptic techniques that are vital in forensic science and DNA analysis. That early exposure to professional lab environments helped her transition confidently into both undergraduate research and professional laboratory settings.

Looking back, Brionna is grateful for how DACC helped prepare her for the challenges ahead and encourages current students to stay persistent as they pursue their goals.

“You may encounter difficulties, but never let those difficulties hinder you from reaching your career goals. Always keep trying and always know that change is a good thing.”

Brionna’s journey is a powerful example of how DACC students can turn curiosity into capability and capability into meaningful, in-demand careers.

Other DACC alumni are encouraged to share their own stories and help inspire the next generation by completing this form.
