Students in the Delaware Area Career Center’s Construction Technology program recently took a significant step toward their future careers by earning the mikeroweWORKS Work Ethic Certification. This certification, offered through a partnership between The Ohio State University, Ohio 4-H, and mikeroweWORKS Foundation, helps students develop a strong work ethic, personal responsibility, and an appreciation for the value of skilled trades.
Guided by Laryssa Hook, 4-H Youth Development and Extension Educator for The Ohio State University, students explored the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge—a set of principles that emphasizes hard work, determination, and self-reliance. The program emphasizes the rewarding opportunities available in skilled trades. Earning this certification means they are not only better prepared for their next step after high school, but are also ahead in the application process for the mikeroweWORKS Foundation’s Work Ethic Scholarship. This year, $1,000,000 in scholarships is available for students pursuing education outside the traditional four-year university path. By completing this course, DACC students have gained valuable insight into the application’s essay and video components, giving them a competitive edge.
Congratulations to our students for earning their Work Ethic Certification and thank you to Laryssa Hook with the OSU Extension, Delaware County Office for providing this invaluable training.
