Accentuating Alumni - Lila Xenakis

Discover Lila Xenakis' journey from DACC to the world of shark conservation! A proud alumna of Olentangy Orange High School, Lila graduated from DACC’s Zoo School program in 2020. She's now an undergraduate at the Florida Institute of Technology, where she's diving deep into shark conservation genetics at the Daly-Engel Shark Conservation Lab.

Reflecting on her time at DACC, Lila credits the Zoo School program for equipping her with vital professional skills. “The program's emphasis on scientific writing and research was instrumental in shaping my capabilities as a scientific writer. These skills are now pivotal in my academic journey, aiding in presentations, scholarship applications, and scientific papers,” she shares.

Lila's advice to current and future DACC students is both inspiring and practical: “Be passionate about your field! The tools and knowledge you gain at DACC are invaluable.
