Tanner Overholts, a 2023 graduate of the Delaware Area Career Center Pharmacy Technician program, attended Westerville North High School and is already building an impressive foundation in healthcare. Today, Tanner works as a Pharmacy Technician in the in-patient pharmacy at Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he supports patient care behind the scenes in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Through DACC’s Pharmacy Technician program, Tanner gained far more than technical skills. He credits the program with helping him explore the healthcare field in ways he otherwise wouldn’t have experienced, while also preparing him for life beyond high school. From resume-building support to mock interviews with real employers, Tanner says the professional development opportunities built into the program were especially impactful.
“DACC gave me the opportunity to not only learn the skills required for my job, but also helped me start building my future,” Tanner shared.
Tanner is especially grateful for his instructor, Mrs. DeMent, whose dedication and commitment to student success left a lasting impression. “I would not be where I am today if not for her incredible support,” he said.
While Tanner is thriving in his current role, he already has his sights set on the next chapter. He plans to pursue a career in medicine, using his experience as a pharmacy technician as a strong stepping stone toward that goal. Outside of work, Tanner is also pushing himself in new ways, working towards qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.
For current DACC students, Tanner offers this advice:
“Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and push yourself to be the best that you can be.”
DACC is proud to see Tanner putting his skills to work, setting ambitious goals, and continuing to grow, both professionally and personally.
