Congratulations to DACC Automotive Collision Repair instructor David “Finn” Finnegan on receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from Pioneer Career & Technology Center. This honor is awarded to alumni who serve as positive role models, demonstrate excellence in their field, and make a lasting impact in their communities.
Mr. Finnegan, a 1970 graduate of Pioneer’s Collision Repair program, began his career at G & M Autobody in Ontario, Ohio, where he spent nearly two decades as a lead technician. In addition to his technical expertise, he mentored countless apprentice technicians, helping to shape the next generation of skilled professionals.
Following a successful industry career, Mr. Finnegan transitioned to education, sharing his knowledge at several career centers across Ohio, including Ohio Hi-Point, C-TEC of Licking County, and Eastland Career Center. For the past 11 years, he has served as an instructor in DACC’s Collision Repair program, where he has been a passionate advocate for hands-on learning and student success.

The award was presented during a ceremony on Thursday, November 20th, where colleagues, business partners, and former students came together to celebrate Mr. Finnegan and the incredible impact he has made, not only on their lives but also on the Delaware Area Career Center community as a whole.

Former student Bryce Murphy, Class of 2022, shared, “Mr. Finn was more than a teacher. If I ever needed anything, he was there. His favorite saying, ‘Make it happen,’ still guides me every day.”
Mr. Finnegan will retire at the end of this school year, closing a remarkable chapter in career-technical education that spans both industry and the classroom. We are grateful for his many contributions to DACC and the lives of his students.
Congratulations, Mr. Finnegan, on this well-deserved recognition!
