DACC Staff Spotlight: Jan Jones, Career Connections Instructor at Big Walnut Middle School
This is Jan Jones’ 6th year at DACC. Before DACC, she worked in private industry for 25+ years, working for JM Smucker, running a credit and collection agency, and working for a Japanese electronics company being their first female Western United States Regional Sales Manager. After getting her master's in special education, she worked with students diagnosed with autism and taught gifted students as well as students with special needs.
Jan’s favorite part about teaching is seeing students, no matter their economic situation, succeed and learn to persevere.
Jan and her husband Brad have a son, Russell, and a dog, Missy.
When not teaching, Jan enjoys gardening, taking long walks, binge watching on a streaming service, and soaking in the sun, preferably with a beach close by.
Jan’s advice: “Be patient with people older than you... you will be that older person someday.”
