DACC Staff Spotlight: Kelly Kohl, Classroom Projects Coordinator

This is Kelly Kohl’s 28th school year at DACC. Before coming to DACC she worked in private industry at an engineering consulting company in Columbus as a Lighting Designer and Head of a Drafting Department.

It is hard for Kelly to pick just one favorite memory after 28 years in education. “I would say that my most favorite experiences with students is when you know while working with them on an assignment or project the light bulb goes off and they finally ‘get it.’ They understand the importance of the work, their efforts, and how it can apply to and be beneficial for whatever their next pathway is on their life’s journey.” Kelly also loves being around the students. “They bring energy to our building and to our day! They are the reason we all do what we do and are our number one priority. I cannot imagine being in any other profession.”

Kelly has been married for 15 years to her husband Craig who was her high school sweetheart many years ago. They met at a vocational school when they were both students at Tolles Career & Technical Center.

Between Craig and Kelly, they have 5 adult children and 4 grandchildren. Kelly’s parents are still close by and she spends time with family as often as she can. Kelly and her husband have a 9-year-old rescue dog and 2 cats who get along wonderfully.

When not teaching, Kelly loves to participate in community service and church activities, garden and work in yard, cook, travel, and shop.
