DACC Staff Spotlight: Carrie Trusley, Career Tech Supervisor

Carrie Trusley is just finishing up her 2nd year at DACC as the Career Tech Supervisor, and 24th year overall, in education. Prior to coming to DACC, she was a science teacher at Reynoldsburg High School, an assistant principal at Westerville North, Olentangy Liberty and Westerville Central high schools, as well as a principal at Genoa Middle School in Westerville. She also worked at the ESCCO as a Coordinator for two years.

One of the things that has been really thrilling for Carrie at DACC is having the chance to see several students she had as middle schoolers attend the career center. “It has been incredible to see their growth, both academically and personally, as they have discovered their passion and purpose. She is so proud of all of them and their amazing journeys.”

Carrie also absolutely loves meeting with students as they prepare to set out on their work-based learning experiences. “Every student is filled with excitement and anticipation to get out into the ‘real world’ and apply the knowledge and skills they have learned while at DACC. Seeing students’ enthusiasm and knowing they are embarking on the next steps of their lives is such a rewarding feeling.”

Carrie has 3 wonderful, adult children Jake, Bess, and Mitch, who are all living and thriving in Columbus. Her husband, Shan, teaches English and coaches boys’ basketball at Westerville North High School. They like to travel and attend concerts. Most recently, in the summer of 2019, she and her husband toured Ireland and visited London for a few days before returning to the U.S. They have 2 dogs: Millie, a 14-year-old Shih Tzu-Poodle mix, and Leo, a 6-year-old German Shepherd-Golden Retriever mix.

When she is not working, Carrie enjoys doing yoga for relaxation and making amazing, hand-poured scented candles.
