DACC Staff Spotlight: RoxAnne Ames, Cosmetology Instructor

RoxAnne Ames has been teaching at DACC for 21 years. She’s been in the cosmetology business for 46 years - 22 years in the industry working in a salon and 3 years as a cosmetology substitute teacher and aide at Tri-Rivers Career Center.

RoxAnne’s favorite teaching memories are when DACC used to have the “live on-stage” SKILLS USA hairstyling competition. “Students had to use models instead of mannequins and create a timed, special-occasion style in front of an audience. Lots of fun and drama!”

RoxAnne enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading and volunteering in animal rescue. She has 2 sons, Mikah and Ryan; a daughter-in-law, Safa; 2 grandchildren, Leo, 2 and Malia, 1. She has a 9-year-old Schnauzer-Yorkie mix, Bella, who was rescued from a puppy mill and 4 rescued cats, Thomas, Tessa, Tank and Josie.
