As a career & technical school, we want to do more than prepare our students with credentials, certifications, and hard and soft skills. They also need to be prepared to work and go to school side-by-side with people who look, act, and believe differently.

Diversity training is not a new concept to the staff at DACC. However, the district has recently partnered with Woven Traditions to increase cultural proficiency.

In addition, they are arming teachers with an equity toolkit they can use in the classroom so that they can weave cultural awareness into everyday lessons, including:

  • Cultural awareness is more than family, food and flags

  • If we see everyone as the same, we don’t truly see who they are

  • Appreciating the difference that differences make

  • Holding diversity in high esteem
