For Andrew Coy, learning didn't end when he completed the Agriculture Science program serving Big Walnut and Buckeye Valley High Schools in 2018.
Today, Andrew works as a Water Systems Inspector with Del-Co Water Company while pursuing a civil engineering degree. As his career has evolved, so has his interest in construction and the critical infrastructure that communities rely on every day.
Andrew credits his Agricultural Science and FFA experiences with helping him develop practical knowledge and a stronger understanding of how things work beyond the classroom.
"Being in FFA was the foundation to my success as an employee in the water sector," he said. "I learned the ins and outs of everything farm related, but also just the way that things work in the real world."
He also credits instructors Mr. Zimmer and Mr. Stimmel for helping shape the work ethic and mindset he carries into his career today.
When asked what advice he would give current students, Andrew emphasized the importance of embracing lifelong learning.
"Don't be afraid to keep learning," he said. "Knowledge is your best friend. Nobody can take that away from you, so get certified, get licensure, and look at every opportunity you can to grow mentally."
His story serves as a reminder that education is not a destination but a continuous process of growth, curiosity, and professional development.
