The Delaware Area Career Center is proud to share that Sarah Morales, DACC Integrated Science Instructor, has been named one of two recipients of the Rotary Club of Delaware’s Excellence in Teaching Award this year. This honor recognizes educators who go above and beyond to support students, inspire learning, and make a lasting difference in their school communities.
Morales was nominated by DACC Lead Principal, Mr. Mike Herzog, who praised her ability to help all students succeed, even in rigorous courses such as Chemistry and Materials Science. In his nomination, Herzog shared that Morales meets students where they are, breaks down complex concepts, and provides individualized support that builds confidence and helps students believe in their own abilities.
Known for her caring and student‑centered approach, Morales connects academic learning to real‑world experiences by partnering with career programs such as Welding and collaborating closely with Intervention Specialists to support students with IEPs and 504 plans. Her classroom is a place where students feel supported, challenged, and valued.
Beyond her work with students, Morales is a trusted colleague who mentors new teachers, contributes to schoolwide instructional improvement, and helped rebuild DACC’s Materials Science course after several years. Her dedication and passion for teaching have earned the respect and appreciation of students, families, and staff alike.
Morales was formally recognized by the Rotary Club of Delaware earlier this spring. Congratulations to Ms. Morales on this well‑deserved honor!
