Tiny House

The Delaware Area Career Center’s Construction Technology program is launching a new opportunity for community members: fully customized mobile tiny houses built by DACC students.

Whether you're looking for a cozy mother-in-law suite, a stylish home office, or a fully equipped secondary living space, DACC students, under the supervision of instructor Mr. Brandon Schwyn, will design and construct a structure tailored to your needs.

Each project will be built on a trailer purchased specifically for the house, making the finished structure mobile and ready to tow. Designs can range from simple shed-style builds to elaborate tiny homes, with pricing dependent on customization.

“This is more than just a project,” said Schwyn. “It’s a real-world, hands-on learning experience for our students. It’s not a simulation - they’re building actual homes for actual clients. That’s a unique opportunity in this field.”

These projects offer meaningful work-based learning in an industry where real-life experiences can be difficult to secure for high school students. Students will participate in every step of the construction process, gaining knowledge and skills that will prepare them for careers in skilled trades and construction management.

The program is now accepting orders on a first-come, first-served basis. Build times will vary depending on the level of customization but could take anywhere from one semester to a full school year.
