Jake Marzluf

Jake Marzluf, a 2017 graduate of DACC’s Digital Design program, is living his creative dream as a Marketing Videographer for the in-house creative department at Stanley Steemer HQ. In addition to his full-time role, Jake also works as a freelance cinematographer and video editor, taking on exciting projects that showcase his talent and passion for video production.

“Video production offers so many amazing and fulfilling creative opportunities,” Jake shares. One of his current projects involves shooting and directing a 30-second commercial spot for the Columbus Blue Jackets, which will air on the Jumbotron later this season. Beyond that, his work includes creating national commercials, social media livestreams, and traveling the country for various shoots. “Needless to say, I’m excited!” he adds.

Jake credits DACC’s Digital Design program as the most helpful and foundational experience of his career. “Like many high school juniors, I entered DACC unsure of which path I would take after graduation,” he reflects. “The Digital Design lab gave me the freedom to explore a variety of career paths, round myself out as a creative, and build networking connections and lifelong friendships.”

Jake emphasizes the role his instructor, Mr. Gallagan (G), played in shaping his success. “G gave us hands-on experience, real client opportunities, and the tools to continue educating ourselves well after DACC,” he says. “Completing DACC gave me confidence in my direction and a head start to excel in college and beyond.”

For current and future DACC students, Jake offers this advice: “Use this time to try a little bit of everything. You might be surprised to find what interests you, where your talents are, and what could be your future career!”

Jake Marzluf’s journey is a testament to the incredible opportunities that DACC provides. His work in video production demonstrates how a solid foundation in creative skills, coupled with confidence and exploration, can lead to a fulfilling and dynamic career.
