Elmer Hernandez Tomas attended Westerville Central High School and graduated from DACC’s Landscaping, Architecture, & Construction program in 2022. Today, he is working for Environmental Management Inc. and leading a crew in landscape/hardscapes.
According to Elmer, he loves his job because it's one where he will always learn something new every day, and he gets to see new technologies and new ways to make the work easier. He’s planning to work at EMI for the long term and work his way up the ranks. He’s really excited to be part of a very prestigious company in the landscape industry.
“DACC helped me develop skills that came in very useful in my career, from building things with my hands to efficiently communicating in a very professional manner. It also helped me to lose my fear of opening up and talking to people.”
For current and future DACC students, Elmer has this advice to share, “Don’t be afraid to make a mistake. DACC is the place for you to make mistakes because that’s the place where you can learn from them and improve yourself, no matter what career you take, always put your heart and soul into your work and you will be in the right path for a bright future.”
