SkillsUSA Nationals

Three Delaware Area Career Center students took first place at the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on June 23rd. The team of Will Johnson, Lincoln Hennell, and Josh Robinson competed in Engineering Technology and Design. After taking eleventh place in the 2022 national competition as juniors at DACC, they were determined to return and claim first place before graduating high school.

In order to qualify to compete at the national level, Johnson, Hennell, and Robinson competed at local and statewide events, claiming first place in Ohio.

Zoey SanFillipo also attended the event representing Ohio as a state officer as well as Gavin Bull in his role as a National Voting Delegate. Both students filled leadership roles within the SkillsUSA organization and spent the week meeting with students across the country to discuss amendments to the SkillsUSA constitution and bylaws and elect new national officers.

Elisha Morton and Parker Spence competed in Mechatronics, an emerging category for the organization that focuses on automation and manufacturing. Carson Marshall and Max Sanclemente competed in Audio and Radio Production. As juniors, Marshall and Sanclemente will return the following year to earn the right to compete at the national level once again.

The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference brings together thousands of students, instructors, business partners, and administrators to celebrate the accomplishments of those preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, and it’s an incredible opportunity for students to showcase their talents and skills on the national level.
