Excellence in Teaching Award

The Rotary Club of Delaware has named Lindsay DeMent, Pharmacy Technician Instructor at the Delaware Area Career Center, as one of three winners of the prestigious Excellence in Teaching Award. This award recognizes educators who have demonstrated exceptional teaching skills and a commitment to improving the lives of their students.

Excellence in Teaching

DeMent was nominated by DACC Principal, Jim Gaskill. In his nomination letter, Gaskill wrote, “While Lindsay focuses on teaching her students about the necessary skills and knowledge needed when working in a pharmacy, she also spends time connecting with her students and learning about their backgrounds, interests, and personal lives. Her mission is simple: to accept her students for what they bring to her classroom, develop their knowledge and skill sets, build their confidence through constant support and reinforcement, and instill a sense of value and self-worth.”

DeMent was formally recognized by the Rotary on May 2nd. In her awards speech, she said, “Excellence in Teaching is an amazing title that feels good, but I think all teachers know that it’s really excellence in perseverance, excellence in patience, excellence in not giving up, and excellence in finding the reason to teach every single day.”

Her colleagues, students, and community members are proud to congratulate her on this well-deserved honor.
