Motorcycle Ohio

Classes are offered at 4565 Columbus Pike, Delaware, Ohio, from March through September.

Registration must be done through Motorcycle Ohio. Classes fill quickly, especially early in the season, so don’t delay!

Registration Fee

$75 (non-refundable)  

You must get your Motorcycle Temporary Permit (TIPIC) before you take a riding class, and bring it with you to class. Please visit the BMV web page to learn how to get your TIPIC and download the study guides for the knowledge exam at www.bmv.ohio.gov.

Classes Offered

Basic Rider Skills
For newer riders and those wanting to learn how to ride, the Basic Rider Skills (BRS) is the place to start:

  • 16-hour course

  • No experience needed

  • Motorcycles and helmets are provided

  • Requires only a valid Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC)

  • Successful completion earns the BMV skills test waiver for a motorcycle endorsement

Returning Rider
For riders 18 and over who have been riding on a temporary permit for at least a year, or who are starting to ride again after an extended time away from riding, the Returning Rider BRS (BRS-RR) is the course to take.

This 8-hour course is designed for those over 18 years of age who have been riding with a temporary permit for longer than one year (over 1,000 miles of experience) and for experienced riders returning to riding, with or without a motorcycle endorsement, after several years of not riding.
