Student Ambassadors gathered at Delaware Area Career Center this week for annual training to help them grow as leaders, communicators, and district representatives.
Throughout the training, students developed skills in public speaking, presentations, professional communication, and leadership. As Student Ambassadors, they play an important role in welcoming visitors, assisting with events, sharing their DACC experiences, and helping prospective students and families learn more about career and technical education opportunities.
The training gives students valuable real-world experience beyond the classroom. Ambassadors learn to speak confidently with a variety of audiences, including fellow students, parents, community members, business partners, and public officials.
To kick off the day, students heard from former Student Ambassador and DACC alumnus Jack Ryan, who shared how the skills he developed through the program continue to benefit him today. Ryan, a graduate of DACC's Application Development & Programming Technology program, is studying Computer Science at Michigan State University, working as a Lead Software Engineer, and serving in both ROTC and the Army National Guard.
"Developing my confidence, communication, and leadership skills as a Student Ambassador continues to have an impact in both my day-to-day work and in my service in the Army National Guard," Ryan told students.
His message reinforced the importance of the work Student Ambassadors are doing today as they continue building skills that will serve them in college, careers, military service, and community leadership roles.
We are grateful for the students who volunteer to serve as Student Ambassadors each year. Their willingness to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills, and represent their peers helps strengthen our school community and inspire future DACC students.
