During the months of December, January, and February several labs at DACC held local contests for SkillsUSA contests to determine a winner to advance to Regional competition being held in March.Local contests consist of students performing lab related tasks and completing projects that represent many of the skills they practice in their programs everyday.
Local contests occurred in the following labs: Construction Technology, Collision Repair Technology, Criminal Justice, Cosmetology, and Welding. The top 3 winners in each contest received a certificate for their hard work, and some programs awarded prizes as well. The Collision Repair and Collision Refinishing contestant winners also received scholarship funds from Ohio Technical College in amounts ranging from $1000 - $3000, presented by OTC representative Jason Moody. In addition, students from the same program were recognized for their industry credential of I-CAR. This is an organization that focuses on providing education, knowledge, and training to the automotive collision repair industry.
Student winners were celebrated and recognized by their teachers and peers at the January and February all-chapter meetings.
Congratulations to ALL participants and winners who will advance to the SkillsUSA Ohio Central Regional level competitions in March. The Regional event will have over 35 students from DACC competing in a variety of categories.
