Wildlife Freya

DACC’s Wildlife and Resource Management student, Freya Eppstein, earned 3rd place in the nation at the 2025 National FFA Agriscience Fair in Indianapolis in October.

Freya’s project, titled "Diet Analysis of Different Demographics of American Bullfrogs (Lithobates catesbeianus) in Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area", focused on the potential threat bullfrogs pose to three endangered snake species. Her research involved analyzing the stomach contents of 111 bullfrogs, identifying the most common prey and determining if endangered snakes were among them.

Freya worked alongside experts from The Ohio State University and the Ohio Division of Wildlife, conducting field research with support from ODNR. Her efforts earned her a gold rating, a $1,000 cash prize, and a spot among the top finalists in the Environmental Services/Natural Resources category, Division 5.

Congratulations on all of your hard work, Freya!
