DACC HS Classes Utilizing Online Portal Day, Wed 1/29

January 28, 2014

Due to the extreme cold weather, the Delaware Area Career Center high school will be closed on Wednesday, January 29th. We will be implementing an 'Online Portal Day.' DACC was approved by the Ohio Department of Education to offer three Online Portal Days beyond the permitted five Calamity Days to allow our students to continue their learning from home in the event that we use all 5 of our Calamity Days. As of January 28th, DACC has used all five Calamity Days. Although legislation has been proposed to extend the number of calamity days, DACC will operate under the current requirements.

You may log on to Blackboard to access your class assignment and you have two weeks to complete the lesson. Any student who does not complete the lesson within this time period, will receive an incomplete or failing grade unless a reason sufficient to the teacher is provided. These assignments will be posted after 9 am Wednesday morning.  For students with internet access, please login and visit each of your classes to find out what your assignment for the day will be. The time for assignments will be equivalent to the time you spend in class so do not wait until later in the day to login to your classes.

Students without access to a computer shall be permitted to complete the posted lessons at school after the reopening of school.  Students utilizing this option will be granted two weeks from the date of reopening to complete such lessons. If the student does not complete the lesson within this time period, the student will receive an incomplete or failing grade unless a reason sufficient to the teacher is provided. The district will provide access to district computers before, during, or after the school day (provided that the equipment is available and accessible at those times.)

If you have questions specific to your assignment, you may contact your teacher or building director. DACC staff will be reporting to work and should be available to answer your questions.
