Mrs. Forster Honored at Delaware Rotary for Excellence In Teaching

Our very own Sherry Forster was awarded the Excellence in Teaching award by the Delaware Rotary on May 10th, 2010. The award recognizes the commitment and tireless dedication exhibited by teachers and honors an outstanding teacher from the elementary, middle and high school levels within their service area.

Mrs. Forster teaches Government, Sociology & Psychology at DACC. She has also been involved in the launch and success of the hybrid program where students combine classroom and online learning to help them prepare for a workforce in this digital age.

The criteria that the Delaware Rotary considers when reviewing nominations include that the teacher:
•    Instills in students a desire to learn
•    Understands the individual needs of students, encourages their talents and fosters self-esteem
•    Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of subject matter or area of responsibility and the ability to engage students in quality schoolwork
•    Has the respect and admiration of students, parents, and co-workers
•    Shows evidence of continued interest in teaching by taking advantage of additional educational opportunities
•    Participates in community activities that support students as well as the school
