April 11, 2012

Congratulations to the Landscape and Turf Management students who placed third overall at the statewide Nursery and Landscape FFA contest. The team consisted of Erin Lockwood, Brandi Rohr (not pictured), Brad, Krueger, and Kyle Wharton.

Brandi and Kyle took first place as a team in the skid loader operation portion of the contest, with Kyle getting second place as an individual in the skid loader portion.  Erin and Brad took first place as a team in the grading and drainage portion of the contest with a perfect score.

Erin Lockwood claimed second in the state individually for the entire contest and Brad Krueger finished in eleventh place individually for the entire contest.

Throughout the competition, students drove machinery through obstacle courses while carrying materials, worked within dynamic sandboxes to ensure proper grading and drainage, and worked through the process of laying paver stones in a designated area.

Mr. Kessler, the Landscape and Turf Management Instructor shared that he is thrilled with the work his students have done. “They worked hard for over a month preparing for the competition and it really paid off.”
