Four Delaware Area Career Center Students Compete At SkillsUSA
National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Kansas City Missouri!

DACC students receive scholarships from The Central Ohio Collision Education Group
Judd Ramsey with winning “Promotional Bulletin Board”

Judd Ramsey, Big Walnut High School, Jared Hochradel, Olentangy High School, Lee Walker and Zach Thompson, Delaware Hayes High School, competed with over 4100 students at the SkillsUSA National competition held in Kansas City Missouri June 24-30. Students competed from all 50 states, Washington DC, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Nationally, SkillsUSA has a membership of over 250,000 secondary/post secondary students.

After winning first place at the Ohio SkillsUSA competition Judd Ramsey and Zach Thompson, Career Graphics students, finished 11th place in the “Promotional Bulletin Board” competition. The first place team from Hawaii scored 1379/1500; Judd and Zack scored a 1292/1500.

Competing against 30 other teams in “Web Design”; State SkillsUSA gold winners, Jared Hochradel and Lee Walker placed 12th in the Nation! Jared and Lee are both graduated seniors from the Information Technology Academy; who will be attending The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the fall majoring in graphic design.

Carroll Cahoon, Career Graphics/Collision Repair student, attended as an Ohio State Voting delegate. Carroll was instrumental in campaigning and achieving a victory for both of Ohio’s nominees elected to National office.

The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference showcases the finest career-technical students in more than 60 skilled trade and leadership competitions. The National competition features more than 4,100 contestants, 1,500 judges and corporate technical committee members, and thousands of spectators, all on about 9 football fields of competition floor space.

National experts in each field set standards and evaluate the contestants. These skill standards represent national industry standards for training tomorrow’s skilled work force. The SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards are distributed to nearly 14,000 educators to assist SkillsUSA instructors in preparing students for local, state and national competitions.
