Delaware Area Career Center superintendent Pat Foor wins OESCA Leadership Award

November 2007

Patricia Foor was recognized at a brunch on November 12 as the winner of Ohio Educational Service Center Association’s Leadership Award. The brunch was held in conjunction with the Ohio Capital Conference at the Hyatt Regency Ohio Center from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Patricia Foor has served as the Superintendent of the Delaware Area Career Center since December of 1999. Nancy Luce, Delaware Area Career Center Executive Director said, “Pat Foor has served the Delaware community since her arrival nine years ago. She has provided leadership to the Delaware Area Career Center as its superintendent. During that time programs have been added such as Electrical Technologies, Microsoft Information Technology Academy, Dental Assisting and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium School.”

Under Foor’s leadership, ninety-eight percent (98%) of the Delaware Area Career Center’s students attain their high school diploma; ninety-four percent (94%) are employed, attending college, or serving in the military, and of that group, sixty percent (60%) of the students now attend college.

Most significantly the Delaware Area Career Center name was created under Mrs. Foor’s supervision. This transformation from the Delaware JVS has improved the center’s image in the community and throughout the state.

Foor is also actively involved in helping the community. Foor currently serves as the President of the Delaware-Morrow County Mental Health and Recovery Resources Services Board. She is also a member of Heart of Ohio Tech Prep Board, the Delaware City Chamber of Commerce Board, Buckeye Association of School Administrators, and a member of an Ohio School Plan Committee which is a statewide committee looking at insurance for schools. In the past, she also served as president and treasurer of the Ohio Association of Joint Vocational School Superintendents.

“These 8 years have been the most rewarding of my professional career. You [the Board of Education] have allowed me to reach out and be actively involved in local, regional and state organizations to network and keep abreast of future trends and current issues and seek resources to have Delaware Area Career Center recognized throughout Ohio and the nation for our efforts,” said Foor in her letter of resignation. She will retire this summer.

The Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA) represents the superintendents, teachers, supervisors and other personnel of Ohio’s Educational Service Centers and seeks to promote excellence in education through the quality services provided by its member organizations.
