DACC welcomes alum to staff

March 2008

Taking a position as the high school Fire Service Instructor felt like coming home to Dan Huffman. Huffman
graduated from the Career Center in 1975 after completing the Agricultural Business Program. His picture hangs in the Career Center’s Hall of Fame. His brother and sister also attended the Career Center. His mother, Doris Huffman, worked as an ABLE/GED teacher. His father, Louis Huffman, served on the Board of Education and was instrumental in starting the Fire Service Program at the Delaware Area Career Center.

“Dan and his family have been Career Center supporters since the school district was formed. Dan was selected for our first Hall of Fame Awards. He brings a history and community perspective to the Fire Program and has already become a valued member of the Fire Program team,” said Pat Foor, Superintendent at Delaware Area Career Center.

Huffman has taught for the adult education fire program at DACC for 15 years. He served as a substitute a few times for the high school instructor, but never realized how much he would enjoy the high school kids. “I know half of the kids because their parents are fire fighters,” said Huffman.

Huffman retired from the Liberty Township Fire Department after twenty-five years of service. He is an excellent addition to the staff at the Delaware Area Career Center.

“Dan Huffman brings a wealth of fire department experience and community knowledge to the Fire Service Program,” said Wayne Strunk, Technology Facilitator.
