Prom!
I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT PROM!
So...if you didn't know...DACC has their own prom! Most are surprised by this but it's true, and it's my preferred prom over my home school's. I know a lot of young girls out there struggle in high school with fitting in and what not. Sadly, prom has always been a place where the perferct Barbie-like girls get to show off and have all the attention in the spotlight. I myself have never had the desire to go to Olentangy's prom because I was scared of the social aspects of it ('m not popular there....at all).

Wow have I been busy.
A couple weeks ago I went to the Skills USA Ohio State competition to compete in Photography. It was my first time at the state level and I had a blast! I went with three other classmates that competed in other categories involving Media. We were all nervous and unsure what to expect, but by the end of the day we couldn't stop smiling. Not only did we get to compete at a state level, we got to see others compete and show off their skills as well. It was a great environment and I'm so glad I got to go.
As you know, we competed at BPA Nationals last week in web design and graphic design. It was such an amazing opportunity, and we were all so lucky to go. None of us made the finals, but we still enjoyed our experience there and had an amazing time competing.

On Wednesday, Moriah, Hannah, Madison, Mrs. Orahood, Mr. Gallagan, and I left for Orlando, Florida for the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference. All of us competed hard and did our best. Even though we did not get the results we wanted, I am so blessed and fortunate to have spent 4 1/2 days with these incredible people. We were able to go to Hollywood Studios on Thursday, Magic Kingdom on Friday, and Downtown Disney on Saturday. It was an amazing opportunity to have and we all definitely grew from it!! One thing that was definitely really cool was the pin trading. Each state attending the conference had 1-2 different pins to trade.
We arrived in Orlando yesterday for Nationals, and so far it has been an incredible experience. The entire atmosphere here is so exciting and we have learned so many new things in the short time we've been here.
The last few weeks have been pretty busy at DACC, and there have been a lot of exciting things going on. Two weeks ago, we competed at the SkillsUSA State competition and had an awesome time! We ended up placing 4th which means we didn't get a medal, but it is still a huge accomplishment to be 4th in the state for web design! Several other students from DACC competed and some of them placed 1st, which means that they will be going to the national competition in Kansas City. Everyone did really well and we all had an amazing experience there.
As the dates of graduation, AP exams, and regular exams loom over us seniors' heads, there's one thing all of us are looking forward to (besides summer): Prom. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Big Walnut's Prom because Moriah Howard, Hannah Clegg, and I will be in Orlando (darn!) haha, but last week was DACC's Prom!! The theme was Masquerade, so Kayla Winters and I spent the time not getting ready to create some original masks of our own! :) Neither of us went last year, but we went to Big Walnut's, so this will be a new experience for the both of us. Hannah and Kayla were both on the ballot running for Prom Queen of South Campus!! I hope everyone had a safe and great time!
One of the best things about my lab is that we have so many opportunities to participate in various competitions throughout the year. So far this year we've competed in several events for BPA, and now we're competing for another organization called SkillsUSA. So for those of you underclassmen out there wondering what the social aspect of Career Center is like, let me just share with you the amazing friendships I have created here. Specifically Justin, one of the students in the class that is suffering from a disease that is causing his lungs to fail.
