DACC Students Take Gold at SkillsUSA State Competition

Ohio SkillsUSA recently held the annual Leadership and Skills Competition at the Columbus Convention Center. Three Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) students took first place in their specialty, four took second place, and one other took third. The three first place winners will be moving on to compete at the national level in Kansas City over the summer.

Auto Technology Students Join AAA Technicians in Vehicle Maintenance Checks

As part of a push to promote safe teen driving, AAA is offering free vehicle maintenance checks at area high schools. Last week, our Automotive Technology students stepped in and assisted the AAA technicians, using the knowledge and skills they've gained in their program at DACC.

DACC Offers Self Defense Against Criminal Attack Class

There aren’t many high school students who wouldn’t love to hurl a textbook across the room. Over the last few weeks, it’s been the teachers throwing these textbooks as part of a “Self Defense Against Criminal Attack for School Employees” class that is being offered to Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) staff members. In April, this class will be available to the public.
DACC Dental Students Become Educators During Dental Hygiene Month

Every year, the American Dental Association sponsors National Children’s Health Month in February. So it was only appropriate that the DACC Dental Assisting students took their show on the road and visited first grade students at Huber Ridge Elementary to teach them about proper oral hygiene.

DACC Students Claim First Place at Regional Competition

On January 31st, Delaware Area Career Center students from three programs participated in the Business Professionals of America Region 4 Championships and fifteen of those students will move on to compete at the statewide competition in March in downtown Columbus.
South Korean Teachers Visit DACC/Dempsey CBI Class

Many of the students in Nicki Wright’s eight grade class had never held a conversation with someone who did not speak English, so when they were asked to represent their class and answer a few questions in front of eighteen Korean visitors, they were very nervous. Nicki is the Delaware Area Career Center Career-Based Intervention Instructor at Dempsey Middle School. When the Ohio Department of Education found out that a group of teachers in Korea wanted to learn more about Career-Based Intervention program, looking to Nicki Wright’s class was an easy decision.
DACC Landscape Team Places 4th in State of Ohio

On January 15th, a team of junior and senior Delaware Area Career Center Landscape and Turf Management students travelled to the Columbus Convention Center to compete in FFA competition and placed fourth overall in the state.
