If my child’s home school is closed for parent conferences, has a different spring break, or is closed for other reasons that are not weather related, how will they get to the Career Center?
Bus transportation is provided from each high school building on every day the Delaware Area Career Center is in session or you can provide the transportation.
If my child’s home school is closed because of the weather, are they expected to attend the Career Center?
No, we do not wish our students to travel on hazardous roads. Road conditions and weather can vary from location to location. Parents have the discretion in these situations.
When might my child become truant from school?
Senate Bill 181 requires that truancy be filed with Juvenile Court in the following circumstances:
5 consecutive unexcused absences, referral to Juvenile Court
7 unexcused absences in one month, referral to Juvenile Court
12 unexcused absences in a school year, referral to Juvenile Court
I am 18 years of age or will be 18 during the school year, how many days of school can I miss before I am withdrawn?
13 absences either unexcused or verified with a parent note.
If my child’s home school is closed or delayed because of the weather, are they expected to attend the Career Center?
If your child’s home school is closed or delayed, then as a parent you can decide whether or not to send them. Road conditions and weather can vary from location to location and our main concern is for your child’s safety. Please follow the normal procedure for calling your child off from school should you decide not to send them.
