Big Walnut/DACC Ag Student Places 3rd at FFA State Competition

March 22, 2011

Congratulations to Don Hutchinson, a senior at the Big Walnut/DACC Agriculture Program. Don participated in the FFA State Competition over the weekend at The Ohio State University and placed third in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking Career Development Event.
3rd Place Finisher at State FFA, Don
Students are asked to draw a topic related to Agriculture. In Don’s case, his topic was related to International Agriculture. He was then given 30 minutes to prepare a 4-6 minute speech. Speeches are judged on content, quality, enunciation, communication skills, professionalism, poise, eye contact, power of expression, and response to questions.

Don opened his speech with a quote in German and related his experiences in Germany to his topic. Congratulations Don! We are thrilled that you could represent Big Walnut and DACC at this state competition.

FFA helps develop leadership skills by providing members the opportunity to participate in Agricultural public speaking activities. To learn more about FFA, visit their web site at http://ohioffa.org/.
