This course is designed to help the student examine conflict
situations and to analyze the cause of the conflict. It will teach
the students to apply various techniques to improve how they

CBP (Certified Business
Professional)

The CBP Program is an international industry credential that
validates the business professional. A typical candidate is a
professional in pursuit of excellence, committed to meeting and
exceeding all standards for the business professional. The CBP
Program establishes a foundation-level, industry-neutral
certification for business professionals, enabling employers and
the candidate to have a platform from which to develop the CBP
for targeted positions within corporations. The CBP also develops
important life-skills that transcend the work environment into
many aspects of living.

Certification for each CBP module is $80 and is to
be completed at the end of each module, if desired.

a discipline. This module explores the study of the process of
communication in the business environment, allowing us to
understand how to make better choices in our day-to-day

CBP Business Etiquette and

This certification develops the concept of business etiquette and
the proper etiquette practices for different business scenarios. You
will learn the etiquette requirements for meeting, entertaining,
telephone and Internet business interaction scenarios. Additionally,
this module addresses etiquette challenges when doing business

CBP Sales Certification
This certification lays the foundation for professional selling by
using effective sales methodologies. You will learn the skills and
tactics of the leading sales professionals and take part in
interactive scenarios to master those skills. This module covers all
the major sales stages and teaches the best practices in the sales
industry.

CBP Customer Service Certification
This certification provides the foundation for quality customer
service and focuses on building lifelong customer relationships by
developing effective customer-care strategies. This module
discusses guidelines for emerging technologies such as Internet
chat. Additionally, this module uses various hands-on and
interactive scenarios to develop the foundational customer-care
skills needed to provide excellence in service.

and characteristics required for effective leadership. Effective

Introduction to Sales
Selling doesn’t have to be high-pressure. Students will learn a
variety of sales and closing techniques that encourage prospects
to make a decision based on their need rather than buy
something based on the salesperson’s need to sell something.
Selling based on need develops long-term clients that generate
commissions time and time again.

as a Coach I

This course explores the various ways that adults learn while
strengthening your ability to better motivate and empower your people.

More Time in My Day

Planning and organizing are paramount to making your tasks
flow and ultimately getting more done in your day. Learn how to
group, organize, delegate and prioritize for maximum efficiency.
Getting more done in your day allows you to be a more effective
leader, team player and family member.

The Manager/Supervisor
as a Coach II

This is the follow-up course to Coach I. It takes those applications
even further as you learn to design employee training programs.
Establish clear goals and evaluation procedures up-front and
develop better leaders by recruiting, training and deploying them
more accurately and informed. The class will examine delegation,
training and project management.

Communication for Manager/
Supervisor I

Effective and creative interpersonal communication is essential in
the business world. This course seeks to create awareness and
strengthen your personal skill level in listening/feedback as well
as telephone, written, nonverbal and electronic communication
while presenting a variety of ways to help others improve.

This is the perfect complement to Communication I as you expand
your verbal and visual presentations and their overall effectiveness
in communicating your message to your targeted audience. The
course will examine the climate for communication and norms as
well as how to give and get feedback within your organization. It
will also examine public relations and marketing.

Supervisor Consistency
Supervisor consistency is the key to a good operation. Examine
how your moods can affect your employees — especially when
those moods swing wildly. Explore how to send the message you
want with your mood and tone in order to reduce employee
apprehension.

Effective Management Reviews
Learn how to document what’s happening in your organization.
Examine the responsibilities a supervisor or manager has in
keeping detailed records (both positive and negative) on
employees. Examine various methods of recordkeeping to
encompass documentation for an entire review period.

Team Building I
Examine the difference between teams and groups. Look at
various types of groups. Spend time exploring the role of
personality and the leadership styles necessary to both work with
and participate in teams. Examine teamwork with hands-on

something when it’s too late? Explore how to create an
environment to discover problem areas before your deadline.
Examine how to give clear directions and set expectations for

Dealing with Problem Associates

Examine techniques used to deal with problem associates.
Students will participate in various activities and roles to explore
how to determine the most effective techniques to use in difficult
situations.

The Importance of Follow-Through
This class ties together earlier topics of Supervisor Consistency:
Inspect What you Expect, Dealing with Problem Associates and
Effective Management Reviews. It is an open forum for discussion
on the topics and an opportunity to interact with the instructor to
formulate a personal plan to become a successful and more
consistent supervisor or manager.

This class covers presenting in small groups, large groups, or in

Learn how to design a working tool that will help you ask
effective interview questions and provide revealing scenarios.

The COST (Customized Office Skills Training) Program
 is designed to provide businesses with training programs and technical
assistance tailored to meet their needs. The training is available
on an individual or group basis and can be held during or after

Traveler’s Spanish

Looking to get away? Learn a new language and explore many
different cultures without having to leave central Ohio! This class
is designed for people who want to learn Spanish and experience
the diverse cultures of several Spanish-speaking countries. Study
outside of class will enhance your experience and some classes
may be held at different locations.


Spanish For Beginners
This class is for students who have not had any experience
speaking the Spanish language. There is homework required in
this class. Class size is limited to 15 and student must be present
the first night of class.
South Campus

Conversational Spanish
In eight two-hour classes, students will get a basic understanding
of the Spanish language and converse well enough to be
understood. This is a prerequisite to more advanced Spanish
courses.
South Campus

Spanish II
This is a continuation of Conversational Spanish and will include
words and phrases as students expand their vocabulary and
speaking skills. Prerequisite: Conversational or Beginning Spanish.
This class will follow Conversational Spanish.

Spanish for Landscapers
Learn the basics of the Spanish language and some helpful words
and phrases to communicate with your Spanish-speaking
employees and coworkers.

Spanish for Firefighters
In four hours the objective is to learn several key words and
phrases that will be immediately beneficial in your work. For
example, a Spanish speaker is shouting as his or her house is
burning — what is he or she saying? Learn some key phrases to
help until the interpreter arrives.

Spanish for Teachers
With the diversity of the population increasing, it is almost certain
that you will encounter a Spanish speaker in your classroom or in
the parent population. Learn some key words and phrases that
will show you care and are concerned for the success of that
student and their family. Your efforts now can make for a lifetime

Self-Defense for School/Business
Personnel
The world as we know it changed on 9/11 and every day we
read of violent crimes being committed. What would you do right
now if you were faced with someone armed with a gun or a
knife? This exciting new course will let you get inside the mind of
the criminal, to learn how he selects targets and give you
strategies to avoid confrontations altogether and introduce some
intervention techniques that may help save a life. Wear workout-
type clothing as this will be a very active class. For more
