Working with the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce Quality of Life Committee, teachers Nicki Wright and Tina Francis arranged tours of local manufacturing plants to show their students that they can plan for a successful career in manufacturing and the companies that are hiring are in their own community. Companies that participated in the tour included Federal Heath Sign Company, V&P Hydraulic Products, Sky Climber, and Luvata Ohio.

On September 14th – a Saturday and the opening day of the Delaware County Fair – 8 DACC/Dempsey and 10 DACC/Buckeye Valley Middle School CBI students volunteered their day to pack rice based meals for hungry Haitian children down at OSU football stadium. For many of the students, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to get behind the scenes and onto the field.

On July 16th, 2013, the State Board of Education released the first simulated Ohio Career-Technical Education (CTE) Report Card. Ohio’s new CTE accountability system is believed to be the first of its kind in the nation.

Earlier this spring, Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) students claimed second place at the annual Area Envirothon. They will move on to compete at the statewide level in June.

Ohio SkillsUSA recently held the annual Leadership and Skills Competition at the Columbus Convention Center. Three Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) students took first place in their specialty, four took second place, and one other took third. The three first place winners will be moving on to compete at the national level in Kansas City over the summer.

As part of a push to promote safe teen driving, AAA is offering free vehicle maintenance checks at area high schools. Last week, our Automotive Technology students stepped in and assisted the AAA technicians, using the knowledge and skills they've gained in their program at DACC.
