Directions to apply for admission to Delaware Area Career Center

Enrollment process

Admission Policy- Delaware Area Career Center is dedicated to serving students who expect to learn and are committed to post-graduation careers and education.

Eligibility—Any male or female who is or who will be 16 years of age or older by January 1 of the junior year of high school, is eligible to apply for admission to our two-year, workforce development programs. Students may enroll as early as their sophomore year in our Career-Focused Sophomore Program or Career Graphics.

Priority application deadline—Students should apply for admission between December and February prior to the year of enrollment. February 1 is the priority application deadline; however, qualified students are admitted on a space-available basis until programs are filled. The application for admission is printed in this book on the next four pages. Additional applications are available at area high school guidance offices and at our North and South Campuses.

Application directions to students—Complete the first two pages of the application with parent/guardian information and their signature. Give the entire application to your high school guidance counselor who will complete the third page. Your high school guidance office will submit the application, along with your official transcript of grades and attendance records, to our Executive Director for processing. We begin the review of students’ applications in February and begin making enrollment decisions in March.

Prerequisites—Ninth graders must have a minimum of three and three-fourths credits by the end of their freshman year. Tenth graders must have a minimum of ten credits prior to enrollment. To enter a two-year program, students must complete required freshmen and sophomore classes (two units each of English, math, science and social studies, and required health and physical education courses), be on track to graduate, and have satisfactory behavior and attendance, with less than 25 total days of absence during the freshmen and sophomore years. A student who does not meet this minimum standard is required to attend a student-parent-teacher conference to determine eligibility to enroll. Check with your guidance counselor to determine your credits and eligibility. Initial notification letters of admission are sent out to students by the Executive Director’s office during the month of March, prior to the school year of enrollment.
